Ceylon tea is produced in the highlands of Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, and is made from the dried processed leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant. It has a slightly different taste from regular black teas, with citrus notes and a full-bodied taste because of the environmental conditions where it’s grown.
Where did Ceylon tea originate from?
Ceylon teas were planted in 1867, in what we now know as Sri Lanka, following a coffee blight which wiped out the coffee plantations on the island. It’s now one of the most popular types of tea and Sri Lanka is the world’s third-largest tea producer.

How to brew Ceylon tea
To brew a delicious cup of Ceylon tea, add one teaspoon of leaves per cup of boiling water and steep for 3-5 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea. Strain into a cup and either drink as is or with milk and sugar.
